An excavator, also known as a digger, is an earth-moving machine that uses a bucket to excavate material above or below the bearing surface and load it into a transport vehicle or unload it into a stockpile, with the main purpose of digging trenches, holes and foundations.
The purpose of regular maintenance of the excavator is to reduce the breakdown of the machine, extend the service life of the machine; shorten the downtime of the machine; improve the efficiency of the work, and reduce the operational costs.
Here are some tips for excavator maintenance:
1. Fuel
The fuel tank should be filled with fuel after daily operation to prevent water droplets from being generated on the inner wall of the tank; the drain valve at the bottom of the fuel tank should be opened to drain water before daily operation; the air in the exhaust circuit should be drained when the engine runs out of fuel or after replacing the filter cartridge.
2. Lubricating grease
The use of lubricating oil can reduce the wear and tear of moving surfaces and prevent noise. When lubricating grease is stored, it should not be mixed with dust, sand, water, and other impurities; when filling, try to squeeze out all the old oil and wipe it clean to prevent sand from adhering.
3. Filter element
Filter element plays a role in filtering impurities in the oil or gas circuit, to prevent it from invading the internal system and causing malfunction. Various filter elements should be in accordance with the requirements of the operation and maintenance manual for regular replacement; replacement of the filter element should check whether there is metal attached to the old filter element, such as metal particles found in time to diagnose and take improvement measures.
4. Spark Plugs
When checking or replacing spark plugs, be sure to clean and re-gap the spark plugs. Remember to clean the threads and seat area and replace the gasket before re-gapping the spark plug.
The above is the daily maintenance procedures of the excavator, if you follow them well, you can ensure smooth operations and prolong your excavator's lifespan.
